Scalpel's Edge

A surgeon's notes

Soaring

The worst thing about surgical training is working long hours with little control of your location, colleagues and roster.

The best part of surgical training is starting a new job and discovering you love it. I have supportive bosses who are wedded to their jobs, so completely available. We receive emergency cases more than any other unit in our hospital, do there’s a constant throughput of interesting cases to learn from. I am learning more about hepatic and biliary surgery than I ever have before.

Sometimes this truly rocks. This is the reason I choose surgery.
